Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
- Stir in boiling water until the batter is smooth. The batter will be thin.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the frosting, beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla. Beat until smooth.
- Once cakes are cool, spread frosting between layers and over the top and sides.
- Decorate with red-tinted frosting, fresh berries, or edible flowers for a romantic touch.
