Ingredients

- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon red food coloring
Instructions
- Combine sugar, corn syrup, water, and cream of tartar in a saucepan.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
- Bring to a boil and cook without stirring until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and food coloring.
- Pour onto a greased baking sheet and let cool slightly.
- Cut into heart shapes while still warm.
