- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Red food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a round cake pan.
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla.
- Alternate adding flour mixture and milk, mixing well.
- Add red food coloring if desired.
- Pour batter into the pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Let cool before decorating.
Notes
- Use heart-shaped pans for a Valentine theme.
- Decorate with pink frosting or sprinkles.
- Check doneness with a toothpick.
