Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a heart-shaped cake pan.
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla.
- Alternately add dry ingredients and milk, mixing until smooth.
- Add red food coloring until desired color is reached.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cool before decorating.
Notes
- Use gel food coloring for a deeper red color.
- Let the cake cool completely before frosting to prevent melting.
- If you don’t have a heart-shaped pan, bake in a round pan and cut into a heart shape.
