- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Blue and purple food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a heart-shaped cake pan.
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla.
- Alternately add flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with flour.
- Divide batter and tint with food coloring if desired. Pour into the pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes. Let cool before decorating.

- Use gel food coloring for vibrant colors.
- Let cake cool completely before frosting.
