- 1 lb (450g) lean steak (sirloin or tenderloin)
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Fresh herbs (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Pat the steak dry with paper towels.
- Mix black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and thyme in a small bowl.
- Rub the spice mix evenly over both sides of the steak.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook the steak for 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare, or adjust to your preference.
- Let the steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
- Garnish with fresh herbs if desired and serve.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer for accurate doneness: 135°F (57°C) for medium-rare, 145°F (63°C) for medium.
- Skip added salt to keep the meal low sodium.
- Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
