Description

A classic British dessert with layers of meringue, whipped cream, and fresh strawberries.


Ingredients

  • 4 large egg whites
  • 200g caster sugar
  • 300ml double cream
  • 250g fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 120°C (100°C fan). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gradually add the sugar, whisking until glossy.
  3. Spoon the meringue onto the tray in small nests. Bake for 1 hour, then turn off the oven and let them cool inside.
  4. Whip the cream with vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  5. Crush the meringue lightly and fold into the cream with strawberries.
  6. Serve immediately in glasses or bowls.

Notes

  • Use fresh strawberries for the best flavor.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 1 day.
