- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
Instructions
- Cook macaroni in boiling water for 5 minutes.
- Add broccoli florets and cook for another 3 minutes.
- Drain and set aside.
- In the same pot, melt butter over medium heat.
- Stir in flour to make a roux.
- Slowly whisk in milk until smooth.
- Add cheese, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Stir until cheese melts and sauce thickens.
- Return macaroni and broccoli to the pot.
- Mix well and serve hot.
Notes
- Use whole wheat pasta for extra fiber.
- Add more milk if sauce is too thick.
- Substitute cauliflower for broccoli if preferred.
