Description
Champurrado is a delicious Mexican drink made with masa harina, chocolate, and warm spices. It’s thick, rich, and perfect for cold days.
Ingredients

- 4 cups water
- 1 cup masa harina
- 1 disk Mexican chocolate (about 3 oz)
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Heat water in a pot over medium heat.
- Whisk masa harina with a little water to form a smooth paste.
- Add the masa paste to the pot, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
- Break the chocolate into pieces and add to the pot with cinnamon and sugar.
- Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Add milk, vanilla, and salt. Cook for another 5 minutes.
- Remove cinnamon stick and serve hot.

- Adjust sugar to taste.
- Use a whisk to prevent clumps.
- Can be made dairy-free with almond or oat milk.
