Ingredients

- 1 package of sponge cake or pound cake (about 12 oz)
- 1 cup raspberry jam
- 1/2 cup sherry or fruit juice
- 2 cups custard (homemade or store-bought)
- 2 cups fresh mixed berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries)
- 2 cups whipped cream
- 1/2 cup toasted almonds or chocolate shavings for garnish
Instructions
- Cut the sponge cake into slices and spread raspberry jam on each slice.
- Arrange the cake slices at the bottom of a trifle dish.
- Drizzle sherry or fruit juice over the cake to moisten it.
- Spread a layer of custard over the cake.
- Add a layer of fresh mixed berries.
- Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, ending with whipped cream on top.
- Garnish with toasted almonds or chocolate shavings.
- Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute sherry with orange juice for a non-alcoholic version.
- For a quicker option, use store-bought custard and whipped cream.
