  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup red and green candy melts or sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place popcorn in a large bowl, removing any unpopped kernels.
  2. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer until the mixture reaches 250°F on a candy thermometer.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  5. Pour the syrup over the popcorn, mixing gently to coat evenly.
  6. Let cool slightly, then shape into balls with lightly greased hands.
  7. If desired, roll in candy melts or sprinkles while still warm.
  8. Place on parchment paper to cool completely.
