Ingredients

  • 1 whole turkey (1214 lbs)
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 tbsp rosemary, chopped
  • 2 tbsp thyme, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 2 cups chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F.
  2. Mix butter, rosemary, thyme, garlic, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  3. Rub the butter mixture under the turkey skin and all over the outside.
  4. Stuff the turkey cavity with lemon slices and onion quarters.
  5. Place turkey on a roasting rack in a pan and pour chicken broth into the bottom.
  6. Roast for 3-4 hours, basting occasionally, until internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  7. Let rest for 20 minutes before carving.
