- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- Red and green food coloring (optional)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
- 2 tbsp butter (for frosting)
- 1–2 tbsp milk (for frosting)
- Sprinkles or edible decorations (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
- Alternate adding the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with flour.
- Divide batter into two bowls. Add red food coloring to one and green to the other.
- Spoon batter into liners, filling each about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool.
- For frosting, beat powdered sugar, butter, and milk until smooth. Frost cooled cupcakes.
- Decorate with sprinkles or edible decorations.
Notes
- Use gel food coloring for vibrant colors.
- Let cupcakes cool completely before frosting.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
