Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Pink and red food coloring
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
- 2 tbsp milk (for icing)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla, mix well.
- In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to wet ingredients.
- Divide dough into two portions. Add pink food coloring to one, red to the other.
- Roll out dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into heart shapes.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden. Cool completely.
- Mix powdered sugar and milk for icing. Decorate cooled cookies as desired.
Notes
- Chill dough for 30 minutes if too soft to handle
