Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease two 8-inch and two 6-inch cake pans.
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla.
- Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Divide the batter between the pans, adding food coloring to half for a layered effect.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
- Level the cakes, then stack and frost each tier separately.
- Assemble the tiers, using dowels for support if needed.
- Decorate with buttercream, edible hearts, and sprinkles.
